Makrades is a substantial sized Corfiot village of tightly packed houses which are accessible by a main street, off which runs many small narrow lanes not designed for the modern automobile but for the common mode of transport back then the donkey.To reach this village from the direction of Paleokastritsa you start climing high up througt the mountains and pass some specutlar sights down onto Paleokastritsa and the monastery and out across the bay of Liapades.The beautiful old monastery ruins of Angelokastro are also very close to the village and access is through the village its self. There are many old abandoned houses in this village and some have been restored to their former condition while others are under renovation and the remainder are occupied by the local people who have welcomed the investment and revival of this lovely old Corfiot village.
